Listen To The Radio is a collaborative artistic research project between myself and independent artist and researcher, Jeffrey Cobbold. This phase of the project was initiated March 2019 after Jeffrey invited me to engage with his work Listen To The Radio, originally a sound installation piece on exhibition during Art Inside the Box: A Curated Exhibit at Belmar Arts Center in Belmar, NJ from September 12 – October 12, 2018.
We began working together, exploring the sound installation’s relationship to song and lyric writing. An artistic research process of soundscape creation and analysis through improvised performance begun in July 2019 and will continue for the coming year, culminating in a live performance. We will periodically share our findings on our personal websites and via social media.
Due to personal commitments, I have decided to step away from the project for the foreseeable future. LTTR was, for a short time, a really interesting and inspiring project for me to be a part of. It allowed me the opportunity to present an artistic research paper at a conference for the first time which, in turn, introduced me to so many incredible artists and creators. It also offered me the chance to further explore my thesis outcomes and methodologies, originally undertaken at Berklee College of Music, Valencia, Spain in 2017.
All links are still active and I encourage you to continue to check out the work on LTTR, as I look forward to doing myself! I also wish Jeffrey all the very best in his continued research and efforts with Listen To the Radio. I’m excited to see where in the world it goes!
