The other day I put this project out into the world ... Incomplete... Imperfect... Vulnerable..... But honest... Open and curious.... I'm happy but the perfectionist in me winces at the idea... We're learning to live together...👭 . Thank you to all of the amazing people who gave their much appreciated time, attention And love to this record. I am forever grateful to you. . I'm writing new music. I'm excited about that. There's a new energy these days. I'm excited for that too. . To celebrate the release of this project, which began as a song I wrote for my Mam on her first wedding anniversary after my Dad passed , we're bringing some of the album to life, among some new songs. It'll be on November 29th, the day after my parents Ruby wedding anniversary (40 years) and my birthday (not 40 years!... Yet) it seems fitting to me. . I would love to see some friends, family and followers there. Let's celebrate life, death, cycles, beginnings, energy, love, eternity and Christmas FM being back on the airwaves 😁🎄 (it'll also be @aaronmchugh15 birthday so we've loooads to celebrate!) . I'm very much looking forward to attending the ISSTA (Irish Sound Science and Technology Association) International Festival and Conference on Sound in the Arts, Science and Technology next week in Cork. . If any friends are attending, please reach out so we can grab a cuppa and come along to the paper presentation of 'Listen to the Radio: A Collaborative Artistic Research Project' between myself and independent artist and researcher @jeffreycobbold. I will be presenting on our behalf. . This phase of the project began in July 2019 and aims to run for 1 year, culminating in an improvised, experimental performance. Check out what the project is about and what difficulties lay ahead, at the conference or on our individual websites which will document the process throughout the year. . I've been having some fun generating new material from Jeffrey's soundscapes and looking forward to sharing the journey so far in this 'at a distance collaboration'. (Jeff is in the US and I'm in Dublin... But, technology, right?!) . In the past few weeks... . I've started to teach at a school... I teach over 100 girls a week.... . I've started down a whole new avenue of work, involving language and people I've never known or even thought of... . I've played gigs I couldn't have played just a few short years ago... . I write about things I couldn't even admit to myself once upon a time... . I've added more skills and expertise to my bow... . . . .......... . . . And tonight.... I cried for 20 minutes thinking about something thats needed my attention for too long and THAT is the bravest thing of them all... (though I wonder if one encourages the other...) The inner journey; damn is it harder to see without the traditional compasses but, I dare say it's the most important. . Not everyone will know or understand the journey... That's our own job, I guess... But when something sinks in, life seems like a whole different thing. . Respect your journey, folks... Everything takes time... What you don't know today, maybe you're not supposed to learn till tomorrow... But trust that you'll find it someday. Forgive past versions of yourself; no doubt they made the best decisions with what they had. Gather your beautiful self up in the now and carry on. . Caught in the act 🎶❤️🎹 the road is long but man is it beautiful! . I'm nervous and excited to share 'Part of the Whole' with you all on November 8th. It's a compilation of songs written during a personally turbulent time. But it's ultimately a hopeful record and really I hope you enjoy it. .
